50th Anniversary of the March on Washington

50th Anniversary of the March on Washington

On August 28, 2013 citizens from across this country will converge upon our nation’s capital to commemorate and celebrate the historic March On Washington which occurred 50 years ago on August 28, 1963

We as a Nation must face the racism of the past and move forward to see men and women for their character and not the color of their skin. We must seek to love all people regardless of race and show respect to all humans.

When all races of men pull together we build bridges and we can do amazing things.

All races of humans have so much to offer the world. We rob ourselves when we shut doors of opportunity to one race.

The church of the living God must be color blind. We must see all humans for the value they have, made in the image of God. We must strive to preach the Gospel to every race of humanity and urge all to walk with Jesus. We must welcome all races in to our family and find a place of love and acceptance for them.

We must as a people rise up when there is injustice toward any race. We must make clear to the world, we do not support such. We cannot be silent in the face of prejudice and injustice. When one person because of race is ill treated then all of us are ill treated and all of us have been made poorer.

God bless America today! May we all remember the powerful words of Martin Luther King, Jr, 50 years ago today. Here are some of his powerful words on that day.

“I have a dream that one day little black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white boys and girls.”

“I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.”

“Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy.
Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice.
Now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all of God's children. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood.”

“Free at last, Free at last, Thank God almighty we are free at last.”

From the Holy Word of God, comes these words.

"And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;" (Acts 17:26)
