Suggestion # 10 On BIble Study:

Suggestion # 10 On Bible Study: Meditation On Your Bible Reading: to mediate is to think deeply and ponder and consider all you have read and studied. To let your mind wonk on it and consider it. Let the words of the Bible sink deep in your mind and thoughts and soul.

"but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night." (Psa. 1:2) "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." (Psa. 119:11). "I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways." (Psa. 119:15)

Here are definitions of "mediate" as used in various passages of the Bible. "To dwell on any thing in thought; to contemplate; to study; to turn or revolve any subject in the mind; appropriately but not exclusively used of pious contemplation, or a consideration of the great truths of religion." "To intend; to have in contemplation." "To think on; to revolve in the mind." "Revolving in the mind; contemplating; contriving."

To mediate well, here is what I suggest. Get some place quite and when you are alone. Clear your mind except on the Bible passage you are considering. Go over and over in your mind the words and ideas you studied. Think on their meaning. Consider in your mind how to live by such ideas. Think of the very words as they were first written. See in your mind that ancient world and the writer writing them down. See in your mind as you think and consider God speaking the words. Pray earnestly for God to help you live by those words. Meditation is very much a part of learning the Bible. Practice this often and you will be enriched.
