Mysteries Of The Bible (14)

Mystery.   The very word, conjures up, "mystery".  The word mystery grabs our attention and we automatically want to know, what is the mystery?  In this series, I make clear over and over, that we can know a lot of things about God and about the Bible.   However, we cannot know all things.  We cannot know everything.   I have often said, we no doubt know less than one percent, of one percent, of one percent, of one percent, etc.   But, we know enough or can know enough to get to heaven.   In the end, that is the most import thing in life.   To know God, to know His will for my life, and to do His will, is truly  my greatest task on earth.

I talked earlier of how the Bible has a world view that is amazing.  Here, I discuss the truth, that the Bible presents a view of reality in life that is unique , true and unknown to the times in which the  books were written.  Here, I wish to take a different turn.   Reality!   Now this is something to consider.

What is reality?  Many religions and belief systems have all kinds of ideas about this topic.   Through the ages it has been debated and considered.  Only the Bible has ever answered it fully and completely.   Others who have since written books and got it mostly right, got their perceptions of truth from the Bible, whether they admit it or not.

The only way the writers of the Bible could write such sublime truths about reality is because the God of the Universe, who knows all things, revealed such to them.   A great mind who knows all had to reveal it to them.   For they , most certainly, could have never come up with this on their own.   The knowledge of their day just did not provide such.   Most Bible writers did not know each other and thus it is a miracle and proof of inspiration that all could write of true reality as they did and be in perfect harmony.   Such is the wonder of God and shaded in mystery.

In our previous installments we set forth the argument for the inspiration and the glorious mystery of the Bible.   Here it is again:

If the Bible fully claims to be the book of God, exhibits complete and total historical accuracy from Genesis to Revelation, and if, it exhibits total scientific accuracy, (that is, when it speaks of anything related to Science, it always speaks in total accuracy),  is free of all errors and mistakes of any form, possess  a remarkable unity, has a world view that is true and unique to the age of the writings (Bible), contains within its pages predictions about the future that would be impossible for humans to know and that had clear and precise fulfillments (predictive prophecy), has a presentation of reality in life that is unique, true, and unknown to the times in which the books were written, and has other demonstrations that prove it is a book of divine (supernatural) origins, then it is indeed, THE WORD OF GOD.

The Bible does exhibit claims to be the  book of God, exhibits complete and total historical accuracy from Genesis to Revelation, it exhibits total scientific accuracy, (that is, when it speaks of anything related to Science, it always speaks in total accuracy),  is free of all errors and mistakes of any form, possess  a remarkable unity, has a world view that is true and unique to the age of the writings (Bible), contains within its pages,  predictions about the future that would be impossible for humans to know and that had clear and precise fulfillments  (predictive prophecy), has a presentation of reality in life that is unique, true, and unknown to the times in which the books were written, and has other demonstrations that prove it is a book of divine (supernatural) origins.

Therefore, the Holy Bible is most certainly, the Word of God!

Here, we are coming to the conclusion of our basic argument, cited above.   The Bible presents a view of reality that is beyond this earth.   A view that is solid, south, good, and right.   A view that the world did not understand at the various times as  the books of the Bible were being presented.

Here are some facts to consider.

1.   The Bible presents the case for a well defined and orderly Universe  (Gen. 1,2).

2.   The Bible presents the case of the existence of humans, male and female, and presents them as here and now in reality with the ability to reproduce after their kind (Gen. 2).

3.   The Bible presents the case of a perfect world made by a perfect God  (Gen. 1,2).

4.  The Bible presents the only true view of where we came from.  God made us  (Gen. 1,2).   Our origin are  in the roots of one, all powerful being.   Men may argue about this all they wish.   However, no other view provides the missing pieces of the puzzle of life so adequately as does the Biblical view, that man was created by Almighty God.   Any other explanation is fraught with all manner of inconsistencies and tragedies.

5.  The Bible presents the only true origin of "death" in our world.   Death is here because sin entered the world and with such all the sorrows and pain that we experience. (Gen. 3).  Humans have tried through the ages to come up with all kinds of explanations for this suffering and that suffering.   The Bible has affirmed all along that there is a great spiritual connection to all that we do in the physical.   Seeing how the Bible is true in all things it has presented, and we as humans have never been able to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Bible is not  true about any given subject, then we must presume the Bible is true when it speaks of this great spiritual connection between the physical and the spiritual.   It makes sense.   There is more to this life then just the physical, material, and observable.   There is the spiritual which we cannot fully fathom but can see and observe the effects.

6.  The Bible presents the valid observation of time.   Humans have seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years on this earth.   Time is real and measures our existence.   You see in the Bible the life spans of one generation after another presented.   In Genesis it is often said of this one and that one, they lived so many years and they died.   Thee was a beginning and there was an end.   This presents a true view of the life span of humanity.   This knowledge transferred from God to man has been with us and given to us by a divine power.   Reality.   Those that cannot deal with reality, we call insane.   The Bible is true and valid and presents a proper and logical view of reality and time.

7.  The Bible presents a true and clear picture of why, we as humans, are here on earth.   Many theories and belief systems through the ages have been presented and even books written.   However, only the Bible presents the true view and conclusion as to why we humans are on this planet.   We are here to find God, to know God, and to do His will.   Only in doing His will on earth will we find completeness and purpose for our existence.  (Eccl. 12:13,14).

8.  Only the Bible presents the correct view as to our eternal destiny.   The Bible affirms that sin will destroy us.   The Bible affirms, whether we shall ever fully understand it or not, that through a person, Jesus Christ, we can find our way back to God.   The Bible presents the view of reality of how to escape this earth alive, to be transported to a place, called heaven  (John 3:16, Revelation 21).

We could go on and on in the study of this issue.   However, the conclusion is this.   We are not in a dream world, we are not in a time warp, we are not in a dream of someone else.   We are not living a life of imagination, we are not in some mystical vapor, that has no purpose, and we are not the product of evolution, of evolving from lower life forms to higher life forms by mere chance.   We are in reality.   We were made by a great God who sees all, knows all, and understands all.   That being is, Almighty God.

It is a mystery, indeed.   We do not know all things.   But, we do know enough to live our lives, discover the origins of our being, the purpose of life, and our eternal destiny.

God be praised for eternity, and great are the wondrous mysteries of our God and His Bible.
