Mysteries of the Bible (4)

The Bible is a glorious book and most profound.   It is like the mighty ocean.   You can walk on the sea shore in your bare feet and enjoy the cool water.   Or, you can swim on out into the ocean and enjoy the water of truth all over you.   Or, you can go deep and then you need scuba diving equipment and if you go real deep then you will need a submarine.   Such is the greatness of the Bible.   I have stood on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean and looked out over that body of water.   There is no way I could see it all, and certainly no way to ever swim and cover every inch of that huge body of water.   The Bible is the same.   It is mighty, indeed.

Another great mystery about the Bible is this.   It has a transforming power.   By that I mean once you read the Bible and truly believe its words and then begin the process of living it, then it has a power to transform you and change you.   Yes, many books have great influences on people and change people.   However, the Bible has the power of absolute transformation.  We can explain this in many ways.   However, we cannot explain it in every detail.   There is a spiritual power to the Bible to touch your heart and soul and transform you in ways that sometimes cannot even be explained.   It is in some ways, a great mystery.   The transforming power of the Bible.

Hebrews 4:12

New International Version (NIV)
12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

This is a classic passage of Scripture that teaches the wondrous power of the Word.   You can see this great power throughout all human history and how the Bible has moved through the Nation's of the earth to motivate and alter the course of history.   Often men abuse the Bible and even in that they do incredible things.   The Bible has the power to shape a human life and world events.  It is powerful.   It must be used carefully and properly.   Just like a gun that can be used to protect and defend or do evil.   Men can take the powerful Bible and use it for great good or evil.

If one submits to the power of the Word,  it will take hold of your life and move you to do great and amazing things.
New International Version (©2011)
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  Ephesians 6:17

The Holy Spirit of God Himself uses the Word as the Sword of the Spirit to convict and change lives.   That fruit of the Spirit is this,

Galatians 5:22-23

New International Version (NIV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.  Herein is power!   The power of the Word to work in your being to produce love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.   Wow!   Such power to change a person!  The powerful Word!

Evil men have been transformed by the Word.   Good men have been made alive by the Word.  Sinners have been saved by the Word.   Men have become better husbands and fathers by the Word.  Women have become better  mothers and wives because of the Word.   You can read and harden your heart and thus be condemned by the Bible.   Or, you can surrender your heart and the Word will fill you and transform you.   You have the ability to resist or surrender.   There are awesome consequences for either decision you make.   Yes, there is a transforming power in the Word.   I can explain some of it, but not all of it.   It is the amazing Power of Almighty God.   In some ways, it is a great mystery!  God be praised!
