They Took The Bullets, Meant For Us!

THEY TOOK THE BULLETS, MEANT FOR US!

War is such a terrible thing. All should agree with that. I think it was Sherman that said, "war is hell". Patton said, "war is about killing people, and when you have killed enough, the war is over". Horrible thoughts. Sometimes the alternative to war is worse and so war is necessary.

World War 2 was horrible and yet I believe it was absolutely necessary. Evidence uncovered shows Hitler was planning for total domination of all of Europe and then he was coming for America. Planes and ships had been designed for the attack on America. If Hitler had not been stopped, the Nazi flag would be flying over every city in America today. Our lives would be so different.

Today, I visited a WW 2 veteran. He was old and sick at the hospital. I helped him and his dear wife better secure their financial situation. He had to sign a lot of papers with his right hand. His arm had been shot by German soldiers in WW 2 as he fought hard against the enemy to protect the United States of America. As I looked at him there in that hospital bed, tears flooded my eyes and I thought, here is a man who sought to protect me, and he took a bullet for me. He took a bullet for me and all America. Oh my! He stood in the way of the bullets that were coming for all Americans. How we all owe him and all like him a great debt of gratitude. I thanked him for his service and sacrifice for our beloved country. God bless him and all like him who have served.

Many gave their all, and their bodies are buried in the earth to await the resurrection of the dead, on that great day. Others gave some, they sacrificed to some measure. Some have endured pain every day since WW 2 ended, (and other such wars, since). This they did, and do for love of country. Most Americans do not understand such sacrifices. They live in a land in which they take most things for granted. What we have today is because some gave their all, sacrificed, bleed, and suffered. God bless their memory.

Yes, the bullets of the Hitler war machine were coming for us all. Many brave men stood in the gap and took the bullets for each of us. Then they too opened fire on the enemy and brought them down, to safeguard all of America. We owe them so much.

There are men today who are at home, who suffer the wounds of war. This they did for love of country. We owe them much.

God bless all those in uniform today. They stand in the gap to take the bullets that are coming for us. They also, are willing and able to send back to the enemy many bullets, so as to crush them and protect all Americans. God bless the American military. They are the protectors of our American way of life, and all that we hold dear.

So, the next time you see a soldier in uniform, go up to them, and look them in the eye, and with sincerity, say, THANK YOU and GOD BLESS YOU!
