THE NATURE OF GOD!

THE NATURE OF GOD!

Wow! What a topic. There is no way to fully understand this topic and no way to fully embrace it. However, we can know some things.

We can know God exists! He is real and He is a person. God is spoken of in the Bible as the "Godhead".

Look at Colossians 2:9 in the following translations.

King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
"For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."

New International Version (©2011)
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,

American King James Version
For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

God is eternal. He has no beginning and no end. God is all powerful, all knowing, and all present. No one can hide from God. God created the universe and God created man and God has a purpose for all humans. The ultimate purpose of God is to take us from this life to heaven. Sin is in the way. Jesus is the answer to solve that problem. Only through Jesus can we make it to heaven. Let us all follow Him.
Discussions on the nature of God can be exhausting and fill large rooms with thick books. Here are some basics I believe. God is real and He is a trinity. In the New Testament God is pictured as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The holy trinity. God is one but made up of three divine distinct personalities. We humans are a trinity as well since we are made in God's image. We have mind, body, soul.
In the NT the main reason God is pictured as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is because God has enacted His redemptive plan. One person of the Godhead has become as a son to a father and submitted himself to the father and thus even to the death of the cross (Phil. 2).

However, God is eternal and all three of the divine personalities are equal in the power and glory (Phil. 2). However, each has a distinct roll to perform and they each compliment each other.

For example, in creation, I believe one person of the Godhead served as the great architect and designer of the physical universe, another person of the Godhood that we call Jesus in the NT served as the power (the word, the logos; Jn. 1:1ff), and still another person of the Godhead served as the interior designer (Holy Spirit).
Notice in Genesis chapter one: "...God said, Let there be light.." Here is one person of the Godhead who is the designer giving the instructions, then another person of the Godhood takes that design and instruction and infuses it with POWER, He is the Word, the Logos, or the energy that makes it all possible. Still, another person of the Godhood, the Spirit, then moves on the face of the waters, or contributes to order, and design and enhancements. Thus all were involved in the creation. In fact, Colossians 1:17 teaches that all the universe is still held together by Jesus (one of the Godhead). It is Jesus and His power that brought the universe into being and that keeps it operating. Physicists talk of dark energy in the universe. It is everywhere and surrounds everything and holds all together. This dark energy could be the force that Jesus uses in His power to hold the universe together and to keep it operating and ever expanding.
Great is our God, Great is our God! Praise God for all Eternity! Great is our God!
The thoughts here presented should cause us to reflect on God more and the nature of God. It should cause us to reflect more on the nature of Jesus and who He really is and what He is all about. This should help us understand His roll as the Son of God and the Son of Man. He is God but came in the form of a human man and lived here and died to save us from sins. He has returned to heaven at the right hand of God. There He takes His rightful place with the Godhead. He now reigns supreme. At the end and after the judgment all things will be restored and the Godhead will be once again what it was prior to the great plan of human redemption being inaugurated.
Acts 3:21

New International Version (©2011)
Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.

I Corinthians 15:24-28

20But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.

When it mentions in verse 28 above that "then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him,...." I believe that simply means Christ is back in the original roll that all three had before the redemption plan was set in motion. Christ was equal with God (Phil. 2). He goes back to that status. All three are equal to each other and interconnect with each other on a equality plane.

As the song says,

Great Thou Art"

How Great Thou Art lyrics

Oh Lord my God
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds
Thy hands have made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout
The universe displayed

Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

And When I think, of God,
His son not sparing,
Sent Him to die,
I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden
gladly bearing He bled and died
to take away my sin

Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great thou art
How great thou art
Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

When Christ shall come
With shout of acclamation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow
With humble adoration
And then proclaim My God
How great Thou art

Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul
My Savior, God, to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

How great Thou art
How great Thou art...
