On July 4th n 1826, former Presidents Thomas
Jefferson and John Adams, who were once fellow Patriots and then
adversaries, die on the same day within five hours of each other. It was
the 50th anniversary of the signing of the declaration of
Independence of the United States of America. What an irony. Both die
on the same day and it is July 4th, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the
signing of declaration of independence. Preachers all over America at
the time would later say it was a sign from God. When these two died
they were the last two left who signed the declaration of independence.
Now, they were all gone and thus all belong to history. It is reported
that Adams said just before he breathed his last breath and died,
"Jefferson, still lives". He did not know that Jefferson was already
dead just a few hours earlier. Such is one of the great ironies of
human history and even some hint of mystery.
